Uvita Costa Rica Dome Drive Thru
The Dome Drive Thru, in Uvita

One excellent example...

Is The Dome Drive Thru Restaurant - a place owned and operated, by a really nice guy named Michael.

Located on the right side of the road, after the main intersection, just before the bridge...

The food here is excellent - both in taste and portions.

Don't miss out on the burritos and smoothies!

...

Another great spot to eat, also close to the intersection - other side of the street, from The Dome...

Restaurante Marino Ballena

Is Restaurante Marina Ballena.

It's a popular hangout at night - great place to meet up with locals, tourists, and expats.

The menu here, is tico-focused - traditional Costa Rican-style dishes, those like casados (chicken, fish or pork - served with a few sides), ceviche (raw fish, marinated in lime juice), and others.

Learn, in Uvita Costa Rica

I first met Jennifer Smith, at the second-ever Envision Festival - taking place in Uvita.

Founder and president of the grassroots organization, Community Carbon Trees - she was giving a talk...

Uvita Costa Rica Jennifer Smith
Jennifer Smith, of Community Carbon Trees

One that addressed the importance of implementing solutions...

Ones to environmental and social problems - throughout the Rich Coast.

...

A byproduct of fossil fuel burning, carbon dioxide (CO2) - one of the most dangerous of all air pollutants...

Accumulates steadily in the earth's atmosphere, when there are not enough trees (converting it back into oxygen), to restore the balance.

As a result - like an overflowing bathtub...

Excess CO2 returns to the earth's surface...

Causing rises in temperature, and the the destruction of important climatic patterns.

...

Back to Community Carbon Trees - an organization created over 12 years ago...

Jennifer, and a number of other highly committed and qualified individuals - are actively pursuing reforestation projects...

Going out in teams to plant trees (tropical native varieties, grown in their very own nurseries) - strategically, on degraded farmlands in Costa Rica.

The goal?

To establish multi-level forest solutions, capturing excess CO2, and in the process...

Encouraging people to become proactive about conservation.

...

I have to say, meeting and learning from Jennifer - was a truly eye-opening experience.

Please visit the Community Carbon Trees website, to learn more about the organization, and how you can make a difference.
